Living on Purpose:
NLP, Coaching & more #2
What does it mean
to live on purpose?
To live intentionally, consciously, doing what we truly
want? We do live in a free country, but are we really free?
Are you truly living the life you want? Are you doing the
things you want to, each moment, of each hour of each day?
If so, FANTASTIC and CONGRATULAIONS! Please write me and
tell me how you do it! I live the way I want maybe 80% of
the time… and am moving toward the 100% (or as close
to it as I can possible come!) I so want to know how you
are successful. It may be the next strategy that creates
the “nickel drop—AHA” experience for my
next client!
If you’re not
living the life you truly want, what are you doing?
What’s really important? In Coach talk, this is sometimes
referred to as our BIG A Agendas. Franklin Covey refers
to them as the “big rocks” of our life, those
things that are most important. What do we live for? What
are we passionate about?
Last month I talked
about “what you want”, in specific measurable
terms.
Results, getting results are what most people who
seek coaching are after. Eliminating self talk, reaching
financial goals, clearing the clutter of their lives. One
of my clients recently described his goal of “Erasing
his hard drive and starting over”. Well, taken metaphorically,
I suggested that he simply run a de-fragmentation program,
use what is useful in the places that are most useful; starting
first and foremost with finding out what is most important
in his life. This hit home, wholeheartedly he said YES,
lets get started!
I have the quote
in the sidebar “Ignore what a man desires and ignore
the very source of his power”.
As humans, we are meaning making beings. We create
meaning, interpret our world and operate on these meanings
as if they are “reality”. In many ways, this
is reality, our reality. And in working with prospects,
clients, customers, even in our closest relationships, what
is important, what drives each of us is what is at the core
of who we are… This is “the stuff of life”
that creates the drive and momentum that pushes and pulls
us every day.
All the techniques
and methods in the world will fall on deaf ears if we ignore
that which is truly human in all of us…
the passion that in many ways is unique, but that
drives us, keeps us getting up every day, working, playing,
striving for….
What is it you are
striving for?
If this is a question you have running around in your head,
then how will you answer it? Certainly, most coaches, like
me, offer a complimentary coaching session to begin to explore
this and similar questions you may have. I offer a free
discussion group to explore these and similar questions
you have. Are you living the kind of life you truly want?
Are you?
