Making ‘being nice’ a priority each day is really nice…

Each and all of us have priorities each day, whether we think about them or not. I know there are many folks who operate on a more ‘automatic pilot’ kind of mode…and sometimes our priorities get jumbled up with other priorities…

…and although not a needle in a haystack, being nice can get left by the wayside…

Today I invite you to make ‘being nice’ a priority…or at least one of your top 3…

Honesty is really nice!

It’s different than the kind of ‘nice’ that some folks call nice… you know, the kind folks use when they want the other person to just feel better? It’s honest, loving, tender… and it’s yours.

When we speak our truth with tenderness we are giving honestly of ourselves to an other… 

Be you, speak your  truth with tenderness…because you matter and…

Managing Our Stuff can be nice…

I don’t mean ‘stuff’ like managing our bank account, time schedules or eating, although those are important too.

By “Managing Our Stuff” I mean managing our behavior AND feeling our emotions.

Did you know that some people think that JUST because they are having emotions that they have the “right” to yell, scream, kick, blame, bother, intimidate, and even hurt others? 

What a silly thing to think, unless you are a tyrant.  Emotions are emotions…they happen…behaviors are our actions that we get to manage; they’re up to us…we can feel them in silence or choose how to express them!

 Choice is what make’s us human’s truly unique…so please choose nice…

 Speaking in a kind tone of voice can be really nice…

Listening to others is really nice…

When we listen to others…I mean when we REALLY listen we become present in the now with them. We hear their words, we see them and feel their sentiment… In short, we make them and what they are saying Really Matter!

Genuine listening starts with genuinely wanting to listen, to hear, to see and to be with the other person…

If you’re not really listening, what are you doing?

When you have the chance, take the chance and really listen…because we all really matter, and…

Sharing appreciation is really nice!

And sharing appreciation is really simple too…you simply recall why you appreciate the person and genuinely feel the appreciation. Then walk up to the person you appreciate, or call them on the phone, or send them an email and say: “I appreciate you because ____________.” (that’s where you tell them why)

And then notice that YOU feel even better….than you did before you started! (that’s the secret bonus…)

And when you share your appreciation, emphasis on the genuine please…

Giving with tenderness is really nice.

When you think about it, anytime you speak, write, or take any action with another person or being you are ‘giving’ something. And kind words or even not so kind words when delivered with tenderness have the best chance of being received.

Really! Giving with tenderness is amazing…give it a whirl!

Pausing in silence is really nice.

Sometimes being nice means NOT saying something that is on your mind… and instead giving it some thought and asking:

“What is the impact I want to have?”

Some of us coaches use the acronym: W.A.I.T. (Why Am I Talking) and I’m guessing that you really do want to make a difference when you say things… so why not make one that you want nicely?   

Today I invite you to practice moments of silence…followed by speaking with tenderness…

It’s nice to be nice to ourselves… So today I invite you to make it Be Nice to Myself Day! 

Open your windows and smell the air, walk in the grass, listen to your favorite music, stop for an ice cream, watch your favorite bad tv show… or simply relax, just for 10 minutes…let go and r-e-l-a-x…

Being nice also and most importantly means being nice to you…that’s right, You! When you are nice to yourself you generate comforting, happy energy… and your nicer, kinder more human with others. AND…you get to practice giving and receiving too…

So be nice to you…and notice the bounce in your step, the sparkle in your eye and smile on your face…

Listening to the songs of birds is really nice!

I’m not sure if you’ve noticed…but just before dawn and just around dusk the birds suddenly join in unison becoming a beautiful ensemble of song…

Now, these same birds sing throughout the day…here, there, up, down, left, right… But…at those particular times when they join together…it’s like the angels have come down from the heavens to share their divinity.

Please pause for a spell and hear the music…and then share Your Beautiful music with others.
